The new BATLOGGER M2 is a new mobile bat detector that is meant as a new version of the BATLOGGER M.
The BATLOGGER M will still be available for all those customers who want to continue recording with the same equipment they used for earlier surveys (so they have comparable data that was recorded with the same detector).
What is new?
ergonomic design for better handling of the device
better interface with more buttons (compared to the M with only 3 buttons)
display with more intuitive menu and more data that can be shown
uses microSD cards (instead of SD cards that are used with the M)
files can be downloaded through USB cable (or by removing the microSD card)
charging over USB-C
integrated voice microphone for note taking during a survey
microphone still exchangeable, but better protected when someone drops the device (that was the number 1 reason for a broken BATLOGGER M)
new microphone, so it is not exactly the same as a BATLOGGER M
What is the same?
integrated battery as in the M
still works with BatExplorer software
same data format of the recordings (.WAV recording file and .XML additional data file)
What's in the box?
BATLOGGER M2 with microphone and 16GB microSD card
USB-C to USB-C cable
USB-C to USB-A adapter
What's not in the box?
charging brick (the M2 can be charged over USB, so either by plugging it in to a USB port on the computer or a USB charging brick)
Why don't we include a charging brick?
everybody already has those chargers from their phones.
when we include one it's always the wrong one
when somebody want's more than 1 BATLOGGER M2, they will get a charging brick with multiple USB outputs anyways
Are there any accessories?
At the moment only replacement microphones.
What does it cost?
BATLOGGER M2 £1135 (includes free bat book worth £35, exclusive 3-year warranty, UK delivery & VAT)
Spare M2 microphone £130 (including UK delivery & VAT)
Where do I get more information?
When can we buy it?
The first units should be available end of February 2021
